Holi Festival of Colors at the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple

Background: The Holi Festival is a spring ritual celebrated by Hindus and many other religions. It has many different rituals within it including; a bonfire where they burn a witch/demon and the main festivity is the color throwing, bringing in spring. Holi is celebrated at the end of the winter season on the last full moon day of the lunar month. The biggest Holi Festival in the United States is located in Spanish Fork, Utah at the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple, this year there was about 20,000 people in attendance and most of them being college students.

I went this year to the Holi Festival with some of my friends. Here is me with my old roommate Kassi and her friend Kayla. Here we are waiting on the bus on our way to the temple.

My awesome multicolored freckles!

This was in between color sessions so it doesn't do justice of how many people were there...it was AMAZING!

What I looked like at the end...pretty ridiculous uh?

drives to duschene, sucking at tennis and 18 mile bike rides

on one bright sunny day in Utah I kidnapped Ryan and we went on a drive up Provo Canyon...it was beautiful. But you know me I got bored of paved roads so forced Ryan on some side road that ended up giving my car a mud-bath and getting lost on Indian land. If that isn't fun I don't know what is.

some of just the many adventures I had with my Best-Friend Ryan Wilson are playing tennis where we both suck so bad that the 5 year old child at the next court made us look bad. And going on 18 mile bike roads where our butts were soooo sore that I couldn't sit properly for the next 36 hours. Drinking odd Brazilian drinks, having monkey-bar races, eating Thai food, flying Batman kites and all nighters...now those things are just as fun!

all good things come to an end

My internship officially ended this last week and as much as I thought that I wouldn't enjoy my time there, I am thoroughly going to miss that place. I started making some friends in the offices I was working at and I was actually able to understand all the procedures so it was sad for me to go.

That first picture is of me and Lieutenant Governor Greg Bell before our flight to St. George and surprisingly I didn't throw up once! And the other picture is at the End-of-Legislative Session dinner and I was able sneak a picture with Utah Governor Gary Herbert.

dads are a girl's best friend

This is just a little shout for my dad. Just want to say how much I love him and what an example he is for me in every way. Seriously almost every life lesson I have learned by working with him in the fields. He is exactly what I want my future husband to be like... I LOVE YOU DAD!

Since next week I have to work all sorts of extra hours at the Capital I got most of this past week off so...I went home!!

On my way there I stopped in Twin Falls to see my sister Julie and I thought to myself I have never stopped and looked at the Snake River Canyon and since my camera was charged I made a little detour.

The river was soooo pretty!!

a lot of family lovin'

While most spent your Valentines Day with your special someone...I went on a little adventure with my parents. Most of my mother's family is from Utah and more then half of them I have never met. So since my parents were already coming to pick me up they made a detour to Southern Utah to visit some family.

First stop was Cedar City where we stayed with my mom's cousins Scott and Charla Sorenson. While we were there I was able to meet my great-aunt Carol who is in not very good so it was awesome to get to know these amazing relatives.

Next stop was the good ole' town of Richfield where my Grandma Louis lives and while we were there we had the opportunity to see my Uncle Chad and Aunt Glena and Bo and Coby.

We also got to see my other Great-Aunt Ruth and Uncle Hal in Monroe who live in the same house my great-great grandpa Lundgreen built in the 1890s. We also visited my Great-Uncle Lovel, Great-Aunt Betty and also my Aunt/Uncle Arthur and Bonnie.

This picture of the cemetery is in Monroe where my relative Archibald Buchanan had 8 wives...way to go Archie!

The scenery was sooo beautiful there, I think my parents got a little annoyed of my geologic references of how they were maid...what can I say though I got an A in Geology last semester.

life as an intern

Well most of you already know but I have had the awesome opportunity to become an intern for the Lieutenant Governor Greg Bell in Utah. It is so much fun! Currently I am the office assistant/secretary/front desk girl, I get to go to lots of different sessions of Congress, meet lots of Utah Senators and Representatives, go to lunches and meetings with the Lieutenant Governor and every morning and afternoon I get to...ride the BUS!!!!

I am currently living with some family friends, the Newmans in Saratoga Springs. It was a little difficult at first but I am now loving all the friends I am making...pictures of all my adventures with them will soon follow.

Almost everyday the rotunda (main level) is full of lobbyist and somedays performers. These groups of kids from China/Mongolia were AMAZING! The singing group were under the age of 9 and also performed at the Beijing Olympics and the Bowl Dancing girls were also very stunning...so cool!

jumping on the band wagon

I have finally caved...I decided that since 80% of the world as I know it has a blog, I might as well join in on all the fun.

So I will try my very hardest to update my blog regularly with all my exciting and sometimes not so exciting moments in my life...are you all ready for this?

BECAUSE I AM!!
